| Bio: | Character Name: Puck Series: Gargoyles Gender: male Age: … very old Species: Fae Sexuality: Questionable. Those wacky faeries. Appearance: He’s thin, tall-ish compared to humans, and extremely… spry. As he prefers to remain levitated in mid air, he’s constantly taking different poses as he floats around. He has long white hair and pointed ears which tend to give him away as a Fae. Puck wears a red silk tunic with indigo pants and red and gold boots. He has a purple toga-like wrap over this fastened with a large broach with Oberon’s seal on it. A pair of gold bracers encircle each of his wrists.While Puck did have the ability to shapeshift originally, he is unable to change from his original appearance. This annoys the trickster who so enjoyed changing his form, so it’s possible that Puck might take to trying various wardrobe changes in the future should he get his hands on any mortal clothing. Personality: Puck is the quintesential trickster. Often thought of as Oberon’s jester, his main priority in life is his own entertainment and amusement. He especially enjoys toying with humans, twisting their words and manipulating them into situations he finds to be comical. He doesn’t do any of this with any true malice, he’s just extremely selfish. Often times he doesn’t consider the feelings of those he’s toying with. He has compassion, but without truly knowing the mortals he plays with he finds it difficult to relate to them. Yet Puck favors the company of humans over his own kind. He finds them to be more fun-loving than his fellow Fae, especially more than his lord Oberon. Though selfish and immature, Puck has been known to risk himself for the sake of the few rare humans that manage to win his affection. While his natural instinct is always to save his own skin, now and then he surprises others by showing up at the last possible moment to try and save the day. His success with such heroics is another matter entirely, but he isn’t the heartless, self-centered bastard some people might think he is. In the end, Puck is neither good nor bad. He is simply Puck. Abilities: Though originally he was equipped with various Fae magics such as shapeshifting and manipulation of natural elements, Puck now finds himself stripped of all but his ability to levitate – which he’s exceedingly grateful for despite being quite petulant about the loss of his other abilities. Puck doesn’t use his defiance of gravity to fly very much, just to stay a good foot or so off the ground. He can move fairly fast this way, but not any faster than 15/20 miles per hour (if you really need a measure for it – most times he goes all of six feet at a time). Weaknesses: He can be injured like anyone else – he is not immortal away from Avalon, just extremely long lived. His main weakness however is that of all Fae – iron. Iron chains are an effective way to hold even a slippery escape artist like him, making him relatively helpless and limiting his powers even further. Along with that, being a Fae he has certain rules he needs to follow. He cannot steal from mortals, he cannot force them to do anything they don’t want to do, and he cannot use his magic directly on them without them asking for it (of course the term “asking for it” includes Puck twisting their words so that he could “mistakenly” do something else to them). Also, when out-tricked and captured by another, Puck must obey his captor until he is released or can escape himself. Manhattanite or outsider? Technically he’s an outsider… but he did spend the last several years in the employ of David Xanatos in New York City so he knows the area fairly well. History: In 995 AD (see, I told you he was old) Oberon banished all of his children from Avalon so that they could learn humility. Puck… didn’t quite get the point of this lesson. Instead he decided that he much prefered the humans to his fellow Fae, partly because they were more fun-loving and entertaining, and partly because they were easily manipulated. He enjoyed himself immensely in those centuries and even decided to hide in the mortal world when Oberon eventually called for the Gathering. While out and about, Puck stumbled on the lady Titania pretending to be the human Anastasia Renard, married to the wealthy business owner Halcyon Renard. Watching them was amusing enough, but he became fond of their employee Preston Vogal. Once Puck bored of the couple, he decided to move instead to their daughter Fox and her boyfriend David Xanatos. He started under the guise of Owen Burnet, the first straight-man Puck had ever played. While Owen may have seemed boring to others, Puck had a wonderful time being someone so different from himself. However eventually Puck couldn’t help but make himself known to Xanatos. He revealed himself and offered Xanatos a deal: one wish from the Puck, or a lifetime of service from Owen. Xanatos chose Owen, to Puck’s great amusement. And so Puck remained by their side, even to the point where Oberon and Titania came to confront the couple in order to take their newborn baby back to Avalon. While originally Puck planned to escape to protect himself, he couldn’t let his lord and lady do as they planned to Fox and Xanatos. He returned at the last moment to help stop them. He managed to give Oberon a good run for his money before he finally had enough and tried instead to just take the baby and kill Fox. Puck was frozen at this moment, but luckily Fox’s latent Fae blood came into play at that point and she used magic to attack Oberon. With a little more convincing, Oberon and Titania allowed Fox and Xanatos to raise the child themselves – with Puck around to teach the young Alexander magic. However before leaving, Oberon punished Puck by stripping him of his powers except for when he was teaching Alex. This crushed Puck, but even the trickster knew better than to argue. He returned to the form of Owen and remained that way from then on… That is until Puck woke up in the middle of Manhattan, looking like himself again. While he had the ability to levitate again, the rest of his powers seemed to be sealed. Annoyed and intrigued at the same time, he set out to figure out how this had happened and whether or not Lord Oberon and Lady Titania were involved, as well as to find out if Xanatos, Fox and Alex were still in the remains of the city. | |||||
